With big hair that seems to defy gravity, infectious dance routines, gorgeous costumes and a collection of 1960s dance music, plus"downtown" rhythm and blues that you can’t help but sing along to, Hairspray arrives in London. It comes with a British cast but everything else is per the Broadway original.

Hairspray focuses specifically on the integration of a teenage afternoon dance program called “The Corny Collins Show”, where teenagers try out trendy new dances. When Tracy wins a role on the show (the plump 16-year old lead) she becomes a celebrity overnight. She then launches a campaign to racially integrate the show. Tracy proves that she can not only out-Mash-Potato all the slim richer white kids, but put an end to discrimination, too.

The long awaited winners of the coveted Sussex Business Awards 2008/09 have been announced at a glamorous award ceremony at Copthorne Effingham Park Hotel, Gatwick, on 20 November 2008.
